BBC Plastics is a 100% Australian owned and operated business which specialises in the manufacturing of plastic take away food containers and lids. They offer a wide range of food grade (HACCP certified) and recyclable food containers to the hospitality and food manufacturing industries.
BBC Plastics was able to quickly recover from an emergency breakdown on one of their chillers due to the technical ability of the Big Bear Refrigeration Air Conditioning team in Sydney. The chillers are critical to keep the robotic plastic injection and moulding cool, and any downtime can significantly impact the factory’s operations.
The compressor model required for the chiller was not available in Australia for at least 18 weeks, which could have been a significant setback for the factory. However, the team was able to engineer a replacement compressor at the same capacity, which is impressive.
It is also commendable that the team was able to reclaim all the refrigerant, change over the compressor and recharge the original refrigerant, saving the customer $5800. This not only shows the team’s technical expertise but also their commitment to sustainability and reducing waste.
